The Plèi Collection’s five flowers blossom thanks to upcycling and artisanship. A rewriting of the word “play” using letters from the name Polène for a line created after leather goods pieces have been cut, when the leather off-cuts come into play.
Nature embodies the very essence of renewal in its seasonal cycles and flowering vegetation. Polène has drawn inspiration from the phenomenon of blossoming, which signals a flourishing and protected natural world, to design everlasting flowers made from leather off-cuts.
Bringing the outdoors in
These blooming creations from leather off-cuts embellish interior spaces. The Dalium flower evokes the sculptural geometry of the dahlia. The Orki flower’s conical shape is reminiscent of wisteria, while its circular folded flowers mimic the refinement of an orchid. The Pili flower reinterprets the pure elegance of an arum lily. The Tul flower can be recognized by its airy shape so commonly found in wildflowers. Last but not least, the Touka flower showcases the clean lines of the bird of paradise. Each flower can be displayed alone in a bud vase, with other leather flowers, or in a bouquet of dried flowers.
Handcrafted by artisans in Ubrique, Spain, the flowers combine two or three leather off-cuts. Their leather-covered stems are adorned with ribbed leaves. Hand-stitching produces intricate folds that delicately replicate the elegant shapes of petals and leaves. Each creation is finished with dyed edges.
